At Sukha Yoga, class size is limited to 7 students. This will bring an intimate nature to each class. The focus is on the lineage of the teachings and the students who choose to practice here. The slow path, mastering your full potential in each moment is encouraged at Sukha Yoga.

–”I started practicing yoga to relieve chronic back pain. Over the past two years, my core and back have become much stronger and the pain is gone. But what I am most grateful for is the unexpected sense of physical grace that yoga has brought me- something I had never experienced before this practice.’ Jeff Maggioli- student at Sukha Yoga.

Below is a description of the classes here at Sukha Yoga. If you are in need of additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

All Levels: Because the classes here are small, there are layers of possibility for all, to build stability within each posture, venturing to one’s ‘edge’ slowly. The class will go, depending on who is here, and what the needs of that moment are.

Level Two: At least 3-6 months prior practice. Classes will range from Vinyasa Flow to a deep Hatha Yoga practice, depending on the energy of the group. The focus on breath work will be deeper, with an exploration into pranayama practice.

Restoratives: A deep but gentle way to release from the ‘go-go-go’ life style we often encounter throughout the week. The class is scheduled on Sunday evenings, a quiet time to go inward, promoting peaceful rest. It is suggested to eat lightly after this practice, and allow yourself to continue through your evening in a gentle way. This class is for All Levels of experience.

Most classes at Sukha Yoga will include the chanting of mantra- the sacred sanskrit devotionals, exploring a practice know as Bhakti Yoga, through sound vibrations we can begin to open the channels in which we seek to work.

Some requests to folks who take class at Sukha Yoga;

To honor a request of the community i live in, please enter the studio from the alley off of Thomas St. The courtyard between Minor Ave N and Sukha Yoga entrance is private shared space. Thank you!

Please lock bikes up on the sidewalks on Minor and/or Thomas St.

Please come on an empty stomach -at least two hours since your last meal. If you are pregnant- please eat a light snack prior to class.

Feeling down with a virus? If you are sick with cold or flu, please take time to care for yourself, but refrain from coming to class. It is a small studio, and I want to limit the possibilities of spreading sickness.

If you are new to the studio, please come 5 minutes early -if possible- to sign a liability release form, and get aquinted with the space.

Even though it is a small space, you do not need to call in advance to check on availability of space. I don’t know how many will be here until the class gets started. Being new, there has not been a problem fitting everyone in.

If you come in after class has begun, please enter quietly, and spend a moment in dedication before joining in the class.

Entry to studio closes 5 minutes after class start time.

Because of the size of the studio, and people’s sensitivities to perfumes and fragrances, please refrain from wearing any. And with regard to this, i do not burn any incense prior to class.

For those who have allergies to four legged creatures: a dog and cat live here, but i keep the studio very clean, and they stay out of the studio, after i have cleaned, and during class times. I apologize for any hardship here.

Thank you!

centuries.

Come help celebrate the opening of this small studio, designed for private and group sessions! It is a cozy space nestled in the Cascade/South Lake Union Neighborhood.

I’ve had some amazing help, and I’m excited to say that we are OPEN! The space is in a structure built in the early 1900’s, and is on the Historic Registry. The studio has beautifully soft natural light, and a refinished original old growth Fir floor. 75% of the construction was done with re-used materials and materials on hand. The walls and trim are finished with a selected No VOC paint made by Yolo Paints in Portland, and the floor with Tried and True Danish Wood Oil out of New York- a non toxic product made without synthetic hardeners or animal testing.

I’m sharing this with you, because I am excited to find products that I wanted to use to complete this beautiful space for your practice and feel it is important that I made these choices, knowing that the affect is far greater than my benefit.

If you would like to be on the Sukha Yoga mailing list, please send your postal and email contact information to: linda@sukha-yoga.org

I look forward to the opportunity to serve my community in this way!

Blessings to you,
