Class Descriptions
At Sukha Yoga, class size is limited to 8 students. This will bring an intimate nature to each class. The focus is on the lineage of the teachings and the students who choose to practice here. The slow path, mastering your full potential in each moment is encouraged at Sukha Yoga.
–”I started practicing yoga to relieve chronic back pain. Over the past two years, my core and back have become much stronger and the pain is gone. But what I am most grateful for is the unexpected sense of physical grace that yoga has brought me- something I had never experienced before this practice.’ Jeff Maggioli- yoga practitioner at Sukha Yoga.
Below is a description of the classes here at Sukha Yoga. If you are in need of additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Level One- This is a great class for those just venturing into the practice, or those that want to revisit some of the basics that we will work on. You’ll have an introduction to the yamas and niyamas. Learning slowly the asansa-seat/posture, pranayama- extension of vital life force/breath and how it is essential to link the two together for a well balanced practice, which in turn brings a balance to our daily lives!
It is recommended at Sukha Yoga to work with level one for at least 3-6 months before venturing to a level two class. This approach works well to build a strong foundation with which to cultivate a lasting practice. It is common for folks to want to ‘jump’ ahead quickly, doing this may encourage frustration and possible injury.
All Levels- That in-between place: to refresh, continue building stability within each posture, venturing to one’s ‘edge’ slowly. The class will go, depending on who is here, and what the needs of that moment are.

Level Two- At least 3-6 months prior practice. Classes will range from Vinyasa Flow to a deep Hatha Yoga practice, depending on the energy of the group. We will explore deeper the eight fold path of Yoga: yama- restraint, niyama- observance, asana- seat/posture, pranayama- extension of breath/vital life force, pratyahara- sense withdrawl, dharana- concentration, in these classes, thus readying ourselves for dhyana-meditative absorption, and samadhi-the undefinable state of union.
Gentle- This is a time for slow deep work with the body, breath and mind. Relax into each posture with ‘effortless effort’, as the instructor guides you through a meditative evening practice. This is a great class for all levels of experince. A balance to the ‘go, go go’ life, those who live with cronic dis-ease, injuries, or difficulty with sleep.
Most classes at Sukha Yoga will include the chanting of mantra- the sacred sanskrit devotionals, exploring a practice know as Bhakti Yoga, through sound vibrations we can begin to open the channels in which we seek to work.
